What Does 'Being Poor' Actually Mean?

Lack of this doesn't make you poor. Read on...

What does being poor mean? It's doesn't just mean the lack of money, as we shall see below.

''As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler; solitude will not be solitude, poverty will not be poverty, nor weakness weakness.''
—Henry David Thoreau

It isn't the lack of money that makes a person impoverished, reduced to begging for their daily bread. It is their thinking for the most part. I say for the most part, because there are always exceptions; war, natural disaster, severe abuse, debilitating illness both physical and mental etc. But, for the most part the lack of money consciousness or lack of an abundance mindset will create a life of poverty.

The scarcity mindset can be emotionally painful for people (I know, I've been there and done that!) and will create in you unnecessary fear, anxiety, depression, and desperation. An abundance mindset, on the other hand, let's you know that there are always new opportunities out there just waiting to be discovered.

It's time to get on the path of positive living and independence.

Look for, and recognize the symptoms of a scarcity mindset. One of the hallmarks is all or nothing thinking. ''If this doesn't work out, my world will end all will be lost!'' Never do that. Life can be a serious business, but not all the time. Let positive thought take over. Always remember the opportunities you have been afforded in your life and know that it is a flow that will always continue — you need only to think optimistic, positive thoughts, to look for them and seize the ones you want.

Focus on the abundance, not on the scarcity of things. What is your mind's primary focus? Is it Positive or Negative? Having a certain thought pattern will color the way you see and understand the world. If you don't think positive, start now. It can be difficult, but fake it, '''til you make it'' It will take hold. Abundance is all around us. For example: As of this writing in 2018, the world produces enough food to feed 15 billion people annually. The population stands at about 7 billion. Over twice as much food as is necessary is grown. This waste is caused by economic efficiencies in the political systems.

Be grateful for what you have, not what you don't have. Appreciate life, your daily bread, your home, your friends, your family and your health. Your mindset will be immediately be improved by doing this. Make it habit.

Organize your world. Get things cleaned up and organized. This will allow you to immediately see what you have and allow you to have more time to do what you need to do through increased efficiency. Do this and you will see results in minutes because just the decision to take action creates a positive mindset.

Capture the spirit of an abundance from the mindset of others. Hang out and associate with people who have an abundance mindset, their positivity will rub off on you. But beware of this; if you don't take the hint and start embracing that spirit of abundance and positive, optimistic thinking with them, they will start to 'shy away' from you, then they will go away.

Be generous with your blessings. The very best way to show God gratitude for how much you have, is to share what you have. Do you feel like you're not making enough money? Give some away. You don't have enough love? Give some love to someone. You don't feel appreciated. Appreciate someone or something more and more. Just give. Remember that 'givers get'. It is impossible have a scarcity mindset when you are in the process of abundantly giving.

When you start to develop an abundance mindset, you will start to notice all kinds of opportunities and will also start to see the abundance around you. You will notice this because, you have by practicing positive thought, set yourself up to find that abundance. You will then take advantage of the opportunities that those with a scarcity mindset miss. They miss them because they're so caught up in the idea that there is not enough to go around.

Finally, the abundance of love. Love, like light, drives out darkness. Because the light of the truth is love. Can darkness ever drive out light? Think about the answer to that and believe it.

''The love of the many makes up for the hate of the few.''

That statement is more than hope. It is a certainty. The abundance of love is eternal. It's your choice. God gave you the power of choice, and we all have the knowledge of good and evil.

Control your mind and your thinking. Thinking positive thoughts costs nothing. Having a negative mindset costs everything.

Optimism and Changing Your Mindset

by Peter Diamandis

The world is getting better, not worse! Peter Diamandis makes a case for optimism -- that we'll invent, innovate and create ways to solve the challenges that loom over us. "I'm not saying we don't have our set of problems; we surely do. But ultimately, we knock them down."
