What Does It Mean to Be a 'Spiritual Person'?

We often confuse spirituality with religion. You can be both spiritual and religious person, but it is also possible to be religious without being spiritual, or to be spiritual without being religious.

A spiritual person is a person whose first priority is to love themselves and others. A spiritual person cares about people, all living things and the Earth. They know deeply that we are all one, and honor this fact. A spiritual person is a practitioner of kindness.

People who are fully developed as spiritual persons and live their lives as the spiritual people continuously are indeed special folks.  How do we understand this and how can we join them?

Relationship between mind and matter: Spiritual people know they are more than just their physical bodies. They are highly intuitive and they understand that their 'knowing' is not just provided by their physical senses.

Relationship with self: Spiritual people are at peace. They feel the same peace and compassion for themselves as they feel for all life.

Relationship with others: Spiritual people see other people as spiritual beings also. They feel at one with others because of a spiritual connection. They see the beauty of the soul.

Relationship with all: Spiritual people never feel alone. They never feel absent from love because they feel they are being loved by the entire Universe. As a result of this they are open, peaceful, compassionate, and loving to all people.

Relationship with the Universe: They have a spiritual connection with everything that exists. They see the Universe as part of God's plan.  They see a purpose and logic in everything that happens.

Relationship with God:  They are absolutely certain that there is a Creator, and they constantly seek his guidance. Others may look outward for solutions, but spiritual people seek answers from within and meditate.  They experience the constant presence and love of God.

So my friends, do you want to be a spiritual person? Then allow your kindness to come forth and be your light. Let kindness toward yourself, toward others, toward animals and toward this wonderful Earth be your primary focus. Completely and fully understand that we all have that essence of God's love within us. That is the oneness of the Universe. God is love and love is all there is.
