Stepping Up to a Bigger and Better Job

By Mike Corthell

''Without continual growth and progress,
such words as improvement, achievement,
and success have no meaning.''

- Benjamin Franklin

Success is a process and often happens on a continuum. Wealth and success are achieved after a long grouping of smaller achievements. Most of us advance one step at a time, and we work our way up the ladder of success. When we started out, we are given jobs that matched both our skills and experience. As we prove our worth to the company, we are gradually given more responsibility and increasingly larger projects. As you gain experience, do it with your eye on a higher position. Do your very best, and always plan for the future. Look at each day as an opportunity to learn something new that will make you more valuable to the company so that when the time comes for promotions you are ready to step in.
