Are You a Risk Taker?

by Mike Corthell

''Only those who will risk going too far
can possibly find out how far one can go.''

- T. S. Eliot

Success is a risky business, that is it always involves risk. You have to 'take a chance' by investing your own(and sometimes other's money, for example - plus your own time and effort. A good entrepreneur is wise to be thoughtful and deliberate in their analyses of opportunities, but holding back by being too wary shouldn't be part of the plan. It is only natural to protect valuable assets from great risk, but they are of no real value if we don't use them. We recognize opportunity only to the extent that we are willing to consider risking our time, money, and effort. If we are confident business people we have the courage to face risk and act when an opportunity comes our way. Success is never thrust upon us. If we want success, we must actively seek it out and jump in head first. There is no other way.
