Biography
Dr. Nyitray's primary research interest is in screening interventions for human papillomavirus (HPV)-associated disease with a focus on anal cancer. This research covers anal cancer and precancer screening interventions that seek to help gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men detect precancers or early invasive cancer when the cancer is much more treatable. His research initially focused on the epidemiology and natural history of HPV infection and HPV antibodies, estimating the prevalence, incidence, persistence, duration of infection, clearance, and the transmission potential of HPV among heterosexual men, gay and bisexual men, and heterosexual couples. Dr. Nyitray is also interested in creating HPV vaccine interventions to increase uptake of vaccination in adults.
