Biography

Dr. Sahoo received her Bachelor of Science (Honors) degree in Biochemistry from the University of Ottawa (Canada) in 1995 and her Doctorate degree in Biochemistry from the University of Alberta (Canada) in 2001, where she applied fluorescence methodologies to study protein conformation. She pursued her postdoctoral work at Stony Brook University where she began her studies of SR-BI, the receptor for high density lipoprotein, HDL, or the “good cholesterol”. Dr. Sahoo joined the 91ɫƵ faculty in 2007 and is currently Professor and Vice Chair for Research in the Department of Medicine. She also holds secondary appointments in the Departments of Biochemistry and Pharmacology & Toxicology. Dr. Sahoo is a member of 91ɫƵ’s Cardiovascular Research Center, and is actively involved with the activities and leadership of the American Heart Association.
